I think the government should offer its citizens a reduction on how to make the vehicle you already own, by installing the fuel we need to make our cars more energy efficient for ours and our childrens future. I say that the automakers do this so we don't buy new vehicles but the automakers would benefit because the gov't would give thm the contract to help the American people get (green) more energy efficient. That is really the first step I believe because if our cars& trucks are less dependent on foreign oil that will help us become more efficient on our enviroment.

I agree...that's a good call. The government now wants vehicles to average 35.5 mpg by 2016. I was reading an article on how automakers are worried with the costs involved in accomplishing this, and we all know they are already having cash flow problems without this. Not sure if this already exists, but maybe the government can put an incentive plan where the higher the mpg is for automakers, the more backing from the government they can get such as tax breaks, etc....?
